‘Behind the Scenes’ Women and War
Wexford Festival Opera

Wexford Camera club was invited by Wexford Festival Opera – Rosetta Cucchi and Roberto
Recchia – to take on the challenge of going ‘behind the scenes’ with our cameras. From early
September 2023 until just before the dress rehearsals we had the freedom to roam back stage,
centre stage or anywhere else in the building we found inspiring. We were free to photograph
rehearsals, set- building and costume-fitting and any other activity that sparked our interest.
It was a wonderful opportunity, although very challenging. Everywhere we went we were warmly
welcomed by all even though they were busy working to get the show on the road.
We had the daily schedule of activity with time slots showing the activities. Only one
photographer was allowed during each slot. We booked our slots and in the space we have
available here we present a selection of our images. This exhibition demonstrates how spoilt we
