13.07.2020-15.08.2020
Running in the Theatre at Wexford Arts Centre
on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
from 2:30pm – 4:30pm
Keep Sketch Wexford is a new virtual drawing group born from three things – admiration of the several urban sketching groups across the globe, creative frustration from the recent Covid-19 lockdown, and a desire to celebrate the beauty and uniqueness of Wexford.
Using Google Maps Street View, a different location within Wexford is visited each Sunday. Participants are encouraged to explore the nooks, crannies, laneways and alleys of these locations to find unique viewpoints to sketch. There are no limits to who can take part, what materials can be used, or how many sketches can be submitted. Everybody is welcome and all sketches are celebrated equally.
The video presentation shows eight weeks of sketches from eight different locations – Enniscorthy, Wexford Town, Castlebridge, Duncannon, Courtown, Kiltealy, Taghmon and Slade Harbour. Participating artists so far include Marja Van Kampen, Ita Grattan, Ciara Byrne, Fiona Hill, Geraldine Kielthy Byrne, Kitty O’Reilly, Mark Kavanagh, Mary Byrne, Nicole Matz, Geraldine Tinker, Ann Franey, Michelle McGlynn, Suzanne Barry, Richard Walsh, Alec Wilson, Rose
Fortune, Lisa Byrne and Larry Dunne.
A permanent virtual gallery of sketches is available to view on The Presentation Centre website, and is updated weekly with each new location. If you’ve read this far, you should definitely take part next week! We love your work. More
information is available on The Presentation Centre’s website and Facebook page. See you Sunday!
