Wexford Film Workshop & Enniscorthy Re-enactors present their award winning films The Shadow of Freedom (30 mins) has won 8 international awards. Including Best Actress, Fiona McDermott, at Bucharest International Film Fest, Best Short Film and Best Director, Dick Donaghue, at European Arts Film Festival in Amsterdam.Based on the book by Maria Nolan, from her historical novel, The Shadow of Freedom. Filmed in the actual locations and based on historical facts and with a screenplay written by Dick Donaghue the film tells the story of a traitor found by the McDonald sisters in Enniscorthy during the war of Independence and the tragic consequences. A Country Divided, (45 min) tells the story of the Civil War in Enniscorthy in 1921. Again based on actual events from the book, The Shadow of War, by Maria Nolan. It deals with the arrival of Earnie O' Malley, Paddy O'Brien and Sean Lemas from the ill fated Four Courts to Enniscorthy. But also delves into the feelings of the local divided families, their allegiances and fears. It was a semi-finalist in many international film festivals with Fintan Kelly as Earnie O'Malley, winning Best International Actor at the Jharkhand National FIlm Festival in India.
